Since before I can remember, my great grandmother, whom I affectionately called “Ma,” always kept her house in the best of conditions, inside and out. Inside, I remember that she grew various plants of all sorts. A few of her plants were fairly mundane like aloe vera and others like that. Some of her plants were more exotic, like wild katniss plants, Christmas cactuses, and many more. Outside was a flower-lover’s dream; so many plants of so many types were just, everywhere. Just when you think things are going well,
Your life becomes a living hell.
You dream of a life well shared,
To live your days loved and paired.
But every time you stop to listen,
Your eyes begin to glisten.
For when you hear,
Your heart calls forth a tear.
This sound meant once joy,
It finds you quite coy.
The sweet soft mellow tone,
Has become a sepulchral moan.
For now, every wedding bell,

Was it from slobs drinking beer?
Not even willing to shed a tear?
How have we traveled here?
Think back to your education,
To those great men who founded our nation.
How stricken they'd be with grief and frustration!
Did they just sit by being complacent?
To my great disdain,
I must face the pain,
Ever since 1960,
We've grown quite ditsy.
No! Stop! Do not pity!
We must choose to be witty!
With praise of ignorance,
With joy in arrogance,
But scold of intelligence,
It has come to be,
That we have lost our dignity.
Come my adored nation!
'Tis our time to re-awaken!
